How was your Thanksgiving? My family and I just got back from San Francisco--we drove so we could take our dog.
We visited with our relatives, and my dog also saw her brother over there and she seemed so happy too! It's nice to get together with relatives.
After much effort, I found out that I can not insert the Tiara Suggestion Chart into our Web site as it is. I'll have to make the whole thing from scratch...but it will take little time. Check it out when I'm done. It will be worth the wait!

Nutcracker season is coming!
Are you going to be in the Party Scene? What are you going to be?
Clara's friend? No matter what you are going to be, you will perform your best.
Unlike on the stage, backstage is alway crowded and everyone's rushing to go from one costume to another. All those efforts and preparations make the performance wonderful.
Enjoy your performance. You are definitely making your family so happy!

How many times can you Pirouette ?
Pirouette[peer-WET]
Whirl or spin. A complete turn of the body on one foot, on point or demi-pointe. Pirouettes are performed en dedans, turning inward toward the supporting leg, or en dehors, turning outward in the direction of the raised leg. Correct body placement is essential in all kinds of pirouettes. The body must be well centered over the supporting leg with the back held strongly and the hips and shoulders aligned. The force of momentum is furnished by the arms, which remain immobile during the turn. The head is the last to move as the body turns away from the spectator and the first to arrive as the body comes around to the spectator, with the eyes focused at a definite point which must be at eye level. This use of the eyes while turning is called "spotting." Pirouettes may be performed in any given position, such as sur le cou-de-pied, en attitude, en arabesque, à la seconde, etc.

I envy New Yorkers and San Franciscans! You are so fortunate to have many opportunities to see live ballet performances. For the rest of us, sometimes a good DVD is all we have. Here's one I really love: Diva of Dance with the legendary Bolshoi dancer Maya Plisetskaya. Her performance in The Dying Swan will delight and move you.
I found the DVD on Amazon.com where I bought a used copy--it's not always easy to find a new copy, although this version was released by Euroarts in 2006.
So much inspiration and beauty can be experienced through videos and DVDs. Don't forget to begin building your library too!

Here's an interesting link for you to check out: a dictionary of ballet terms on the American Ballet Theater website. Bookmark it and visit it often. Maybe we'll have a quiz on the terms!

I'm delighted that you have visited Prima Korona and have discovered our blog, too! We've just gotten underway and things are moving fast!
We'll do our best to bring you news and information about ballerinas-in-training, dance competitions, costumes, and yes, smelly bags and bunions. We hope to establish a conversation with dancers and their parents who are as devoted to dance as we are. The purpose of this blog is to encourage you, Ballet Dancer, and to help you have the right attitude to achieve any goal you may have. We very much look forward to getting your comments and questions. Thank you for allowing us to share our passion for ballet with you!
